Michael Wawrzycki

Michael T. Wawrzycki’s work focuses on both commercial litigation and business advices. For over a decade he has defended cases involving admiralty and maritime law, personal injuries and wrongful deaths, as well as claims made under the Longshore Act, Defense Base Act, and Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Act. He also advises a variety of business clients on contracts, litigation strategy, real estate, employment matters, and best practices.

He received a Bachelor of Arts English degree in 1998 from Binghamton University, and went on to receive (also from Binghamton University) a Masters of the Arts English degree in 2001. After stints in business and publishing, Mr. Wawrzycki attended Tulane University, where, after spending a semester at Boston University following Hurricane Katrina, he received a Juris Doctorate from Tulane in 2006. While at Tulane University, he was the Editor in Chief of the Tulane Journal of International & Comparative Law and co-founder and President of the Real Estate Law Society.

Mr. Wawrzycki was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar in 2006 and is a Member of the Louisiana and New Orleans Bar Associations. He is licensed to practice in all state district and appellate courts, and is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana, as well as the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

His most recent successes include::

    • Motion for Summary Decision granted by Judge Lee J. Romero Jr. in the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Administrative Law Judges, where he proved that a claimant’s psychological claims for compensation were time-barred. Carlson v. EOIR Technologies, Inc., 2018-LDA-330 (Aug. 3, 2018).
    • Appellate affirmance of St. Charles Parish Judge Emile R. St. Pierre’s grant of his Motion for Summary Judgment, finding zero liability for his client in a multi-vehicle accident case. Dixon v. The Gray Insurance Company, No. 17-CA-29 (La. App. 5 Cir. June 15, 2017).
