Kelley A. Sevin

Kelley graduated from Louisiana State University (B.S. 1993; J.D. 1998). In 1998, she started her legal career with the firm. She became a member in 2004, but she has managed the firm since day two. In addition to her case load, she has handled management and attorney development of the marine and transportation section. In July of 2011, she co-founded Duncan & Sevin, L.L.C.

She practices in the areas of maritime defense, including wrongful death and personal injury, collisions, master service agreements and contractual indemnity issues. Her clients include vessel owners, domestic underwriters and syndicates at Lloyd’s of London. Other areas of practice include transportation, insurance coverage and defense in federal and state court in Louisiana.

Kelley is a member of the Offshore Marine Service Association (“OMSA”), on whose behalf she filed an amicus curiae brief in the suit to overturn the drilling moratorium implemented by the U.S. Department of Interior. She has spoken at OMSA legal forums regarding offshore indemnity contracts and coordinating effective personal injury investigations. She has also lectured on Medicare Set-Asides and diverse topics in maritime law.

Kelley’s most recent success is a victory in trial in front of Judge Barbier in the Eastern District, where she proved a thirty year old oral charter agreement.  M/V EDITH PEARL LLC et al. v. St. John Fleeting Inc. et al, 2014 WL 2520132.

She is a member of the New Orleans Inns of Court, Defense Research Institute (DRI), Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel and Louisiana State and American Bar Associations. Kelley is a member of the Louisiana Bar, the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit and the U.S. District Court, Eastern, Western and Middle Districts of Louisiana.
